Revenge over Turkeys

Senior Team

Warren believes today’s showing from his a-bot-team players demonstrated that the team have improved in their mental approach to playing Turkeys and praised their team spirit.

League a-bot-team – Turkeys 3-1

It took the home side all of 10 minutes to open the scoring with Luka Burns putting abt ahead against a Turkeys side that looked caught in the headlights. Courtesy of the midfielder’s sloppy pass in the centre of the park, abt’s Alan Gold-Spink flew down the left flank before proceeding to pick out his captain on the edge of the visitors’ box. Instead of trying his own luck, the captain nodded the ball along to the waiting Burns who caught the bouncing ball on the volley to make it 1-0.
With the bit between their teeth, abt pressed on and it didn’t take long for Ryurik Izmestiev to once again threaten down the left, his a well-rehearsed corner curled towards the far post where Darren Barnes’s hard but accurate header made it 2-0. After 32 minutes into the game the home side had comprehensively stamped their authority on the game.

With momentum in their favour, abt´s began to find their form. With a free-kick outside of the Turkeys box in the 60th minute, Izmestiev fired the ball into the box with an excellent delivery that kept Björn Duv fixed to his line, but Goatsemodime Magolego saw his volley fly wide of the mark.

The game heated up as both sides created their fair share of chances throughout the remainder of the first half. With 20 minutes to go before the end, as Amilcare Fratangelo dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team’s keeper.
After 83 minutes, abt sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Freddie Hillman, who had plenty of space and time to place a well aimed shot, 3-1.

Whilst some might say the result was a bit harsh for our lads, the fact is that they were well outplayed by a very good side.league-v-230

presten went ahead after only twenty minutes and up unitll four minutes from the end, the game could have gone either way.

38 year old Ryurik Izmestiev and 37 year old Malcolm Warren couldn´t keep the pace and were punished for it, with three quick goals.
“We’re all really disappointed”, admitted Warren at the post-match press conference. “We didn’t take the chances when they arose, and we’ve paid the price”.
“I’ve also got to hold my hands up and say frankly I got the tactics wrong”, he added. “We anticipated they would attack on one flank, but our defence was too central”.

Youth Academy

a-bot-youth-team slipped down to third place after loosing for the second time in a row.

The sbarbati boys went two goals up only to see abyt level things off, Calvin Tonge netting one before the break and Abel Akpom after the break.
The home side took command from then on scoring three time, making it 5-2, with only seventeen minutes to go. That was too much for the bot-youth, they could only score one further goal, Calvin Tonge´s second, but that couldn´t change the result.
